Nice start to the year...

Had a replacement for one of credit cards arrive yesterday, so thought I might activate the mighty beast.

Quick phone call, job done. Or, not. It appears that I have now joined the ranks of the scammed, spammed and ripped off... yep, someone got the card details (a card I use only at one place, PayPal!) and decided to test the credit limit.

First, a £1.49 at iTunes... and then, in like Flynn, £2600 at dabs.com... of course, I did wonder if I had bought that plasma TV I want in my sleep but apparently not... that'll please the wife of course!

Luckily, no harm done as the card company (Alliance & Leicester) had spotted the trend and cancelled the transaction. What I don't understand is how, or where, the details were nicked. I haven't had a physical card for this account for over a year - registered at PayPal for occasional business purchases only. Odd, very.

Ahh, the world's a better place thanks to the interweb.
